The Relational Leadership Institute (RLI)
The Relational Leadership Institute is an in-depth, multi-session learning and skill development program for healthcare professionals.
The program format is flexible and typically involves 18-32 hours of learning and practical experience, broken into 2, 4, 6, or 8-hour modules over a three-month period of time.
Designed for either intact teams or cohorts of individuals from multiple teams, and using large group didactic sessions and facilitated small breakout groups, participants dig deeply into core Relational Leadership and Teaming concepts. Topics include Narrative Leadership, Teaming and Psychological Safety, The Dynamics of Self and Teams, Building a Culture of Feedback, and Conflict Diagnosis. Over the course of the learning experience, participants apply their new competencies to leadership priorities and challenges in which they’re already engaged, sharing their insights, experiences, and learnings with colleagues.
Multi-session programs, like RLI, are often designed to focus on building local capacity for ongoing sustainability and scale through our Leadership Pathway. Program alumni are encouraged to serve as facilitators, trainers, and coaches for future cohorts, building a pipeline of leaders. Each institution can develop a self-sustaining Leadership Pathway that expands over time.
We are proud to partner with the following organizations to offer multi-session programs based on this design:
- Cambia Health Foundation
- OCHIN
- Oregon Health and Science University
- Sam Houston State University School of Nursing
- University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
- University of Utah
